Benjamin paints as an emotional expression of his connection to the infinite, imaginal realms of cosmic consciousness. He was born in a small town in North Dakota and raised within a strict catholic belief system that introduced him to spirituality through a fear-based relationship to God. His college explorations into philosophy illustrated the false narratives of Christianity and shifted his views to a more rationalist perspective, eventually leading him to nihilism. The rejection of these belief's catalyzed a spiritual crisis that resulted in a penchant for self-destruction. After a couple run-ins with the law and a criminal arrest,  Benjamin dropped out of college, moved to California and began to pursue a lifestyle in the arts.

However, throughout this time he continued to struggle with a desire to push the edges of his consciousness---and he ultimately fell into patterns of addiction. Benjamin became gripped by substance abuse and for a period of time, he lost the tether of connection to Self. After a decade of struggling with drugs and alcohol, Benjamin found Iboga, which transformed his relationship to Creation and returned him to his sense of purpose as a visionary painter. Benjamin currently lives and paints in the forest of Nevada City, CA where he communicates the emotional depths of the human soul through his devotion to creating visually-stunning works of visionary art.
